COP28, the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marks a crucial gathering within the framework of the UNFCCC. These conferences assemble nations to negotiate and implement strategies to combat climate change, mitigate emissions, and curb global warming. As the preeminent forum for climate-related decision-making, COP28 UAE presents a pivotal opportunity for global collaboration to ensure the goals of the Paris Agreement remain achievable, particularly the crucial target of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. This event promises to be transformative, rallying nations to enact substantive climate actions and deliver pragmatic solutions.
In this project I mainly helped with user journeys to ensure the experiences are engaging and the interactions are clearly guided.
Green Zone Activations
SHARE OUR IMPACT: CARBON NEUTRAL PORTS
A towering wall of stacked boxes beckons, some adorned with a QR code waiting to unlock a realm of augmented reality trivia on the mobile devices. As the users engage with the quiz, LED lights activate to highlight the selected box, enhancing the interactive experience. The objective is to vividly showcase DP World’s commitment to decarbonisation, proving it’s not just a distant goal but a tangible reality today. DP World’s unwavering dedication to sustainability is conveyed through captivating stories woven into the AR quiz, portraying them as trailblasers in the corporate world. Interact with the structure, uncovering tales of ambitious goals and remarkable achievements, leaving the users impressed and inspired. The activation also encourages the users to capture and share the experience, solidifying DP World’s impact as a leader in sustainable practices.
SOLAR MAMAS
This activation is a journey of human connection and empowerment, designed to infuse vitality and empathy into the narrative of change. The mission is to spotlight real individuals whose lives have been positively transformed through impactful initiatives. As the users approach the focal point, a frosted screen captures their attention, revealing abstract figures in motion, igniting curiosity. With a gentle touch, the screen comes alive, transporting them into the heartwarming story of the Solar Mamas. Witness their remarkable journey unfold, showcasing DP World’s meaningful partnerships and commitment to social causes. A moving story emphasising on the resilience and determination of these changemakers, leaving the users inspired to explore further. Through this interactive experience, it shines a light on DP World’s dedication and commitment to addressing both global social and environmental challenges, and invites every user to join them in making a difference.
CORAL VITA
An activation showcasing DP World’s commitment to protecting coral reefs through strategic real estate management. As the users engage with the interactive table, witness the transformative power of coral restoration in action. Initially, the table portrays a depleted underwater ecosystem, prompting the users to take action by placing corals onto its surface. With each coral addition, the scene blossoms into a vibrant marine habitat, teeming with life as fish and other marine creatures flock to the newly restored reef.
The experience reflects DP World’s vision of reimagining ports as guardians of ocean health. Throughout the journey, alternating messages provide insights into DP World’s partnership with Coral Vita and the broader narrative of ocean conservation. And as the table reaches its maximum capacity, a gentle reminder underscores the importance of balanced reef growth, ensuring sustained vitality for marine ecosystems.
Innovation Zone Activations
GLOBAL CAFÉ
A café designed for the users to take a rest and enjoy a cup of drink while engaging with stories on the pivotal role DP World plays in shaping global trade. Through a series of captivating “farm to fork” stories, we unveil DP World’s profound impact on everyday products, from coffee and tea to oranges, illustrating their integral role in the global supply chain.
As users place their drink orders, an animation sequence is triggered, unfolding across café-esque artwork and within the counter top, seamlessly weaving the stories of these products into the fabric of the experience. Whether savouring their refreshments amidst the animated narratives or eagerly sharing their newfound knowledge with others, this activation promises to be both fun and informative.
THE GLOBE
A content explorer piece to showcase DP World’s standing on the world stage and the magnitude of their impact. At the heart of the experience lies a futuristic spherical display, beckoning users to engage and explore. As they interact with the display, they wield the power to project their chosen content onto the expansive screen behind, delving into the myriad facets of DP World’s influence.
From their pivotal role in marine and wildlife conservation to their support for women in underdeveloped countries and groundbreaking technological advancements, the immersive journey highlights DP World’s multifaceted contributions to global industries. Whether captivated by the scale of their operations or inspired by their commitment to positive change, users are encouraged to engage further, sparking conversations and connections that extend beyond the confines of the activation.
