About Cisco Live 2024

Event dates: 5 – 9 Feb 2024

Cisco Live delivers education and inspiration to technology innovators worldwide through large-scale in-person and digital events, as well as on-demand education. It is the premier destination for Cisco customers and partners to gain knowledge and to build community. As the place where the best and the brightest minds in IT come to learn, Cisco Live will ignite creativity, deliver practical know-how, and accelerate the connections that fuel your digital future.

This is the most major project I have worked on during my time at GPJ UK, and the only project I have worked from the initial briefing to onsite delivery and to post-event debriefing. I have contributed to multiple activations across different areas in the event, including the Cisco Live Circuit Challenge, Cisco Networking Cloud Puzzle, Cisco × Live Nation showcase, and the Hub activation. I have also made the ABC Guide Website for internal use for Cisco Live 2024 as well as future Cisco Live events.

World of Solutions

Cisco Live Circuit Challenge
The Cisco Live Circuit Challenge is an AR game using the Nintendo Switch to spotlight the Cisco × McLaren partnership. The inspiration is the classic video game – Mario Kart. The activation elevates the traditional experience with mixed media and live action remote control. The cameras on miniature remote controlled cars give the users the viewpoint from the cars POV.

On top of the real world footage, the AR technology overlays virtual elements, such as iconic Mario Kart characters and power-ups, onto the live video feed captured by the kart’s camera. This innovative integration allows users to see and interact with their favourite Mario Kart elements in real-time, creating an immersive and dynamic gameplay experience.

The McLaren x Webex by Cisco partnership is built on behind the scenes technology that improves innovation, communication, teamwork & ultimately performance on the track. The challenge offers the users an exciting game experience while learning about the “the race behind the race”, shadowing all the work & innovation that goes on in the background.

Cisco Showcase

Cisco Networking Cloud Puzzle
The Cisco Networking Cloud Puzzle is a riveting journey where knowledge meets fun. Users start with a series of trivia questions, unlocking ‘lives’ with each correct answer, while gaining insights into Cisco’s pioneering approach to simplifying multi-cloud systems. Then they navigate through a maze of tiles, strategically uncovering hidden images while dodging potential cloud issues. Every successful move echoes Cisco’s commitment to streamlining the multi-cloud environment, gradually revealing the masterpiece beneath.

Cisco × Live Nation showcase
The Cisco × Live Nation partnership has revolutionised live entertainment, enhancing fan-event connectivity and transforming artist and venue engagement.

The objective is to design an experience that recreates this unique moment for show and festival goers within the Showcase, emphasizing the essential role of Cisco’s technology.

I contributed to the initial ideation and assisted with testing the live photoshoot onsite. Additionally, I produced a motion-reactive Touchdesigner piece using Kinect, where on-screen particles follow people as they move. I also assisted with curating the playlist for this area.

The Hub

Connected Globe 1:
An area that represents different countries and regions. Participants connect with others by virtually “travelling” to these regions through immersive technology (VR or AR). Screens are placed around to allow onlookers to see what the participants are experiencing.

Surrounding the large globe, LED lights react when people interact in VR.

The participants explore Cisco’s impact on connectivity in each area, and experience live real world case studies – creating a virtual tour of Cisco’s global projects.

This allows the participants to “visit” remote locations and watch case studies of where Cisco has made a significant impact on connectivity.

Connected Globe 2:
A physical representation of the services Cisco offers – similar to a model railway/village.

The participants create the connections via illuminated ropes to create physical connections between the services. These connections open up associated content, animations, and physical movements projected or embedded into the village.

This is a playground of Cisco products and solutions for attendees to explore and experiment with. Experts can guide them through demonstrations and answer questions about Cisco’s role in global connectivity. As well as access real world stories about the benefits of these connections.

Tree of Live:
Oversized cables and connectors hang from around the tree.

Sockets on the pods around allow the connectors to be plugged in by guests to activate and play the CDA stories on screens within the tree.

Cables are made from “neon” LED to provide animation and colour, which represent interaction states and each CDA story.

Robot Coding Challenge:
A robot must be guided by guests to create connections through a maze.

Four plaques with CDA story information are placed around the maze area. Guests make their way around each plaque, reading the information and finding which country the CDA story relates to.

Guests then guide the robot through the world-map maze to the correct country.

Moving the robot could either be via code blocks – visual programming or a remote-control-like interface, both on an iPad.

Guests are pitted against each other for a place at the top, whilst learning and sharing content to other attendees. Guests who move the robot through the maze the fastest win.

ABC Guide Website

ABC Guide Website

The ABC Guide website is an internal portal for Cisco Live staff to access all necessary event information. It was designed to replace the outdated deck, and offer an easy-to-use, manageable, and reusable solution for the future.

I designed and built the website to provide users with the most convenient access to information, either through a search bar or by selecting categories. The website ensures that the right people have the right access, maintaining accuracy and up-to-date content. To protect the information, category-specific password protection has been implemented, safeguarding the content effectively.
